Three New Cats with a Golden Touch
Sometimes a series isn’t quite finished.
Last year, I painted my first series of cats with a golden touch: four cats, each with its own unique appearance, framed by shimmering gold leaf. I thought the series was complete… but new ideas kept coming to me.
That’s why I have expanded the collection with three new watercolours.
This time, I chose a beautiful black cat, an elegant white cat, and a majestic Maine Coon. Although they all share the same distinctive style, each cat has a character all its own.
As with the earlier paintings, the cats were created using transparent layers of watercolour. I then finished each piece with delicate fineliner details and accents of genuine gold leaf. Whenever the light catches the painting, its appearance changes slightly. The gold reflects the light and gives the frame an almost magical quality.
For this new series, I drew even more inspiration from the graceful forms of Art Nouveau. The organic lines, flowers, and decorative elements create a golden window through which the cats appear to gaze serenely.
The new series consists of:
- Black Cat
- White Cat
- Maine Coon
Just like the earlier cats, these paintings are original watercolours on 100% cotton watercolour paper. Each piece is unique, painted entirely by hand, and embellished with gold leaf.
Together, the seven cats now form a remarkable collection. They are beautiful as individual works of art, but also look wonderful displayed side by side. With their different coat colours, flowers, and golden details, they complement one another perfectly without being the same.
