Going Nuts

In this original colored pencil drawing, a determined little mouse takes on an impressively heavy barbell made from two walnuts. Wearing a red-and-white sweatband and looking upward with wide, focused eyes, the mouse seems to be giving everything it has in one heroic lift. The contrast between its tiny body and the oversized walnut weights gives the artwork a warm, humorous charm.

The drawing is carefully built up with colored pencils, with soft layers and fine details in the fur, paws, tail and textured walnut shells. The simple white background keeps the focus on the character and its wonderfully dramatic effort. The result is a playful and uplifting artwork about courage, ambition and trying your hardest — even when the weight looks far too big.
