Piglet – Reduction Linocut Print – Limited Edition of 9
This original reduction linocut depicts a cheerful piglet surrounded by flowers. Printed entirely by hand in my countryside studio, the artwork combines a joyful subject with refined decorative details.
The print is available in a strictly limited edition of only nine impressions.
Each impression was created with 14 layers of Caligo Safe Wash oil-based relief ink. These carefully built-up layers produce rich colours, depth and a distinctive tactile surface.
Inspired by Animals and Flowers
My studio is situated in the countryside, where I hear sheep, horses and goats as I work. Animals bring me joy, and I love expressing that feeling through my art.
This little pig, surrounded by flowers, captures the cheerful and gentle character that inspires my animal series.
The decorative style is influenced by Art Nouveau, particularly the graceful lines of William Morris and the richly ornamental work of Alphonse Mucha. These influences give the playful subject a timeless and classical appearance.
An Irreversible Printing Process
The reduction technique involves printing each colour separately and then carving more material away from the same linoleum block.
Once a layer has been printed and the block has been carved again, there is no possibility of returning to an earlier stage. Every decision is permanent, making careful planning, patience and precision essential throughout all 14 layers.
Subtle variations in ink distribution, colour and texture occur naturally during the hand-printing process. These differences give every impression its own individual character.
